Blog Post #11 As a future educator I hope to use data collection (surveys) and Excel to better understand where my students are at when teaching lessons. I've had teachers in the past who will use the anonymous surveys and ask the class to describe how they're feeling about the material and then on a scale from 1-10 rate themselves on how well they feel like they're understanding the content. Based on our responses, our teacher would base his next lesson plans off of it and identify the areas he should go in more depth with. I found this to be extremely helpful as a student. The subject matter could be anything, and this would work best with older kids in high school. The flipped classroom basically consists of learning the material at home and then down worksheets, homework, and other exercises during class time. Essentially, the flipped classroom is doing everything that we do in current classrooms and the work we do at home, and flipping it. Watching he lectures at h...

Blog Journal 10 Technology can help teachers to promote the best learning methods and engage students in an interactive way that makes learning more enjoyable for all. Since technology is ever changing, it's important as educators to continuously stay on top of frequent updates and new areas for growth and improvement. One site that I found that helps to stay on top of common technology trends is: https://www.teach-nology.com/teachers/educational_technology/ This site discusses the technology trends used in the classroom, and is also updated throughout the year. This is useful for teachers to always stay up to date on the latest technology that may have came out recently that they didn't know about before. From the PowerPoint assignments I learned how to create presentations with voice overs and helpful speaking notes for talking in front of others. I also learned who to create animations, transitions, create sound affects, and insert clip art. I liked using PowerPoint b...
Blog post #9 As a speech-language pathology major, I've learned a great deal about assistive listening technology when it comes to students that are Deaf or hard of hearing in the classroom and ways to best help support their learning. People that have hearing aids are able to connect their device to their teachers microphone to best foster their learning and ensure their understanding of what's being said. These devices help support students undeniable right to hear. I've also learned about technology for individuals that are non-verbal, and ways to best help them communicate using an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device. This device can speak for the individual and can communicate their wants, needs, thoughts, and ideas. I have seen hands-on students use these different devices during my observation experiences. I think the challenges that arise from using these technologies is simply the accessibility. For some students, obtaining these devices can c...

Blog Journal #8 The DID model has several key points such as knowing the learners, articulating objectives, establishing the learning environment, identifying teaching and learning strategies, selecting technologies, and evaluating and revising the design. https://www.teacher.org/lesson-plan/fun-fraction-pizza/ I found a lesson plan specifically designed for second grade students related to learning about fractions in math, which goes along with the DID as it is directed towards the specific learners and their learning environment in the classroom. The development component goes along well with the DID model. The lesson plan also lists the specific objectives and outcomes. The lesson plan also consists of teaching and learning strategies by describing the body of the lesson, guided practice, and independent practice. The design also consists of ways to evaluate students knowledge through worksheets and visuals, as well as any modifications that may be needed. However, the de...
