Blog Post #11

As a future educator I hope to use data collection (surveys) and Excel to better understand where my students are at when teaching lessons. I've had teachers in the past who will use the anonymous surveys and ask the class to describe how they're feeling about the material and then on a scale from 1-10 rate themselves on how well they feel like they're understanding the content. Based on our responses, our teacher would base his next lesson plans off of it and identify the areas he should go in more depth with. I found this to be extremely helpful as a student. The subject matter could be anything, and this would work best with older kids in high school.

The flipped classroom basically consists of learning the material at home and then down worksheets, homework, and other exercises during class time. Essentially, the flipped classroom is doing everything that we do in current classrooms and the work we do at home, and flipping it. Watching he lectures at home lets parents join in directly with their children and help them with the material that they're learning. However, there are pros and cons to this method.

One technology tool I hope to learn/use next is Zoom. As the President of a student organization at FSU, I have to learn how to conduct my future club meeting with it and do not know how to use this sight, as my course lectures are mainly recorded and uploaded to canvas. I think is an extremely helpful tool that is benefiting students across the world, and learning how to use this tool which I may have to use as an educator as well would be extremely beneficial.

The paragraphs I found most interesting after reviewing Ray's blog was the COVID-19 ones and the information provided about it. I enjoyed looking at past lesson plans that we had to form/links to websites to use in the future with our possible classrooms, and I enjoyed seeing my peers creative ideas. I also thought it was interesting to look back at our past blog posts and see the advanced use of technological skills that we've developed as students through this class!
