Blog post 7 Since I'm a Communication Science Disorders major, I do not wish to maintain a course website. As a future speech-language pathologist, every client that I have will present a different set of communication problems which are private and personal to them. Posting things about my clients would violate the HIPAA laws. For instance, discussing my weekly plans and goals for my patient online could violate their trust and make them feel uncomfortable. However, I'm not opposed to posing activities or general ways to help my client practice target goals. For example, having at home activities available for my patients and their parents to practice at home may help them overcome their disability or disorder at hand, and could enable them to come more prepared to my sessions. I do think course websites could be important to utilize in some contexts such as with at home activities for my patients to practice with, however for teachers I don't think course websites are t...

Blog Journal #6 I found a class page for a 2nd grade class at Amelia Earhart Elementary School. The teacher, Mrs. Haney, uses this page as a way for to communicate to parents and their children about the daily schedule, lesson plans, FAQ's, class projects, and other useful information related to their child's education. This pages allows for the parents to be actively involved in the students academics, and can help further their success in the classroom.   https://earhart.goddardusd.com/49583_3 The Digital Divide affects students success in schools in multiple ways. It's important for teachers to understand the different demographics, economic statuses, and backgrounds in general of every student. Often, there are students in the class who are not exposed to technology simply because they do not have access to it at him. However, other students in the class may be exposed to it daily and are far more advanced than others. This makes it hard to properly teach different...
Blog Journal #5 I chose to look at the ELA standards for kindergarteners. The standards listed were basic and mainly consisted of the students being exposed to different types of technology when it comes to writing. The technology used for this grade involves a SmartBoard, storybook creator websites, and paint programs. I do feel prepared to implement this technology in my classroom as I've been exposed to all of this growing up. I've had to observe/volunteer in education classrooms and have helped kids work with SmartBoards. I also had to use a SmartBoard for one of my previous classes for a presentation. It's important for students to be exposed to technology at a young age so when the complexity of technology progresses over the years, the students are not behind. One tool on CPALMS that I would use in my classroom is the Model-Eliciting Activities (MEAs). This involves the use of lesson plans and critical thinking skills. Students use their experiences and knowledge ...

Blog Post #4 My online learning experience didn't begin until I entered college as a freshman. I took my first online class, Art and the Environment, in the 2017 spring semester. I loved the dynamic of being able to work at your own pace, and fitting studying/learning time into my busy schedule whenever I wanted to. The LMS used for all online courses at FSU is canvas, and it's fairly simple to understand. At first, I was afraid to take an online class, thinking that I wasn't going to be able to understand the material all by myself with out having that an in person professor, but as the semester continued I became accustomed to the weekly assignments and projects. The learning was an asynchronous communication. The instructor would post weekly modules with the tasks at hand, the expectations, and at times recorded lectures for the week. While I've enjoyed the few online classes that I've taken during my undergraduate degree, I do feel I learn best in a classroom. ...
