Blog Journal #6
I found a class page for a 2nd grade class at Amelia Earhart Elementary School. The teacher, Mrs. Haney, uses this page as a way for to communicate to parents and their children about the daily schedule, lesson plans, FAQ's, class projects, and other useful information related to their child's education. This pages allows for the parents to be actively involved in the students academics, and can help further their success in the classroom.

The Digital Divide affects students success in schools in multiple ways. It's important for teachers to understand the different demographics, economic statuses, and backgrounds in general of every student. Often, there are students in the class who are not exposed to technology simply because they do not have access to it at him. However, other students in the class may be exposed to it daily and are far more advanced than others. This makes it hard to properly teach different technological tools in the classroom. In the future, I plan on recognizing the students that may not have as much access to technology at home, and helping them one on one.
I have found twitter to be useful in this course when it comes to communicating with peers about assignments and questions. I've looked at my peers questions about assignments, such as Kemory's blog, when it came to how to insert pictures for skill check 2. However, I have struggled with posting myself on Twitter as they've blocked my account from posting things thinking that it's spam. In my future career, I think twitter will be useful when communicating quick announcements and reminders to students about upcoming due dates.
I commented on Hayley Singer and Olivia's blog.

I related to this blog a lot. I've struggled with the same issues and benefits of twitter; I also loved the point of communicating with students. I'm going into elementary education and didn't consider that, so it was a good eye opener. Great read!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is such a cool set up for a class page. Way better than the one I found. I too relate to this blog post a lot. Integrating twitter with an online class is such a cool concept. Especially because I feel like its an app people constantly check and are on. I loved your post! Can't wait to read more.
ReplyDeleteHi, Noelle
DeleteI agree with Edda that this is a cool set up for a class page.
Hi, Noelle and Morgan
ReplyDeleteI did not realize that Twitter have blocked my account from posting things thinking that it's spam. I have never encountered this issue. I am wondering whether you could reply to my tweets or retweet others' tweets.
